Are you having a hard time focusing on your actions and do you always have this feeling that you are not optimizing your time?

If this is true, read on….

The ability to do the most important action to take at a given time is the best way to optimize your time. Just getting up in the morning and doing what others have decided you should do will help achieve their goals and not yours — this happens when you check your email inbox the first thing in the morning.

Even “to do lists” if not properly planned will not be all that helpful.

First you need to set your goals. Remember that this includes both business and personal goals. For action planning purposes, list the goals that need action in the next twelve months. Then, prioritize the goals. For each of these goals, write down the action steps together with start and end times wherever possible.

It is best to review the long-term goals quarterly to ensure progress and make any adjustments as needed.

For goal setting, I use the IM Control Panel‘s Goal Setting function to define my goals and set a goal date.

Weekly Planning

You should do your planning weekly. Your appointments that have already been fixed will be inserted into your planning document first. Then review the activities of your previous week. For those that need further action, update time slots into your plan.

Action Review

Once you have taken care of the daily and weekly commitments, then review your actions that you listed to achieve your goals. Insert those that are planned to start in the week for which you are planning. In this way, both short-term and long-term activities can be planned for effective handling.

The magic of documenting your weekly plan is the first victory towards actually getting down to action. When activities are not committed to a plan, it is very easy to give in to urgent short-term matters and ignore the important activities that impact your long-term goals.

The IM Control Panel‘s Action module will help you do this.

Daily Review

The next important step is to fix a time daily to review how you have progressed. This can be the end of the day or early in a day. Make the necessary adjustments based on the progress made.

Spread Actions

The question now will be what happens to “to do lists”. Instead of having a “to do list” that never seems to finish, spread your action items across the days. You will have an idea of how much time you have left in a day, so that you can plan what you can practically finish within each day. This way you can get a sense of accomplishment as you complete your planned work, instead of the frustration of a never-ending “to do list”.

If you finish your planned activities for the day, you can always pull forward actions planned for the subsequent days. If you cannot complete, then when you do your daily review, make the necessary adjustments to the following days to fill in these activities.

As you complete your activities, check them off. Indicate activities that are transferred. Activities can also be dropped and these must also be noted. There is a sense of satisfaction and control as you carry this out in a disciplined manner.

You may think that this is very restrictive. What about priority activities that come up during the day? When this happens, it makes sense to do what is most important at that moment in time. When you do your daily review, you then make the necessary adjustments to get back on track.

With this organized method of planning, acting and reviewing, you will find that you can get a lot more things done. Importantly, you will also be working towards your long-term goals as well, instead of just working on your day-to-day activities.

Affirmations

One other technique that successful people use is to include affirmations in their daily life. An affirmation is a word or phrase you use to remind yourself of the way you want to be. Examples of affirmations will be “Celebrate Life” and “Do It Now”. Affirmations must represent something important to you. Repeat many times daily to reinforce it. It is a good idea to write your affirmations on your daily planning pages.

Why is this method very effective? Consider past actions, present actions and future actions. Future actions can only be controlled indirectly. Past actions are gone and totally outside your control. The only thing you can control is your present actions. Others can influence you but only you can control your action at a moment in time.

The only way then to optimize your time is to use each moment on the best possible action that you can be taking at that moment.

Each time you try to sell your products to a client, you will only get one answer, either a “Yes” or a “No”. Does getting a “No” mean the end of the sale? Definitely NOT. With proper attitude and mindset, you can change the “No” to a “Yes”!

1. The Golden Network Marketer Mindset

“If you believe your product can benefit your clients and if your clients can afford it, you are obliged to sell to them.”

This mindset works on the premise that you have evaluated your products and that they are of reasonable quality. Be confident of your products and feel that you are actually doing your clients a big favour. Show them how they can benefit from your business – how your products or business can help solve their problems. If you can demonstrate all these, you have a higher likelihood of success.

2. Understand your clients and guide them

Most people don’t ask questions and would rather pretend they already have the answers. As a result, they do not get the whole picture and they are lost. It is your onus to come out with good questions to lead your prospects in the direction you want them to go. Your mission is to clear up their doubts and help them identify their deep desire on what they actually want. Find out what their problems and their needs, and then show how your business fits as a solution.

3. Create a sense of urgency

It is human nature to procrastinate, so give your prospects a deadline. You might want to consider offering a time-limited incentive (e.g. reduce the investment cost) to reward those who can make powerful decision quick. Otherwise, they will take their own sweet time to make a decision, and finally, forget about it.

4. Under-promise and over-deliver

Some network marketers get carried away by over-promising their clients and hence when the real outcomes do not meet the expectations, they are seen as under-performing. Many issues will ensue thereafter. You can avoid all these by under-promising. Being honest with the expected performance, and when you over-deliver, they will tell the whole world about it! And more people will come to join you.

BONUS TIPS:

Let your prospects know that you are selective and your business is high in demand.

Give them a list of criteria that a committed client must fulfil and they will come back to tell you that they meet the criteria.

Do not appear too available when your clients want to make appointment with you. This is to show that you are busy and successful, which you are.

Getting yourself back up after a fall is tough. The most difficult part is perhaps trying to motivate yourself to do it. So how do you motivate yourself and move on? Here are a few ways how.

Set goals

The key to getting motivation is setting specific goals. You have to list down a list of goals that you would like to achieve.

Start small

Remember to start small first. Start with making a list of goals for each day. Little baby steps first! So once you are able to achieve your mini daily goal, you can now move on to bigger things.

Set a timeline

Have a timeline by which you have to adhere to. Your end aim will be for example to run in a half marathon race before the age of 30. So with that goal set firmly in your mind, you can start making mini goals from there to achieve the big goal in the end. You can start training for your half marathon run by training everyday first. Then after that, you start small with a 5km run and you move on to 10km run and finally when you are ready, you can go for a half marathon run.

Walk the talk

You may think that you are the best but you also need to start proving it. It is all right to talk but also need to walk the talk. So start doing it. Start taking up new stuff to prove that you can do it too. Don’t let these new experiences pass by because you THINK you can do it.

Be persistent.

Don’t procrastinate! Motivation and success is inseparable. You can’t have success without motivation. The most successful people in the world may not be the smartest or the most talented but they are the most motivated. So remember to be persistent in your goals. It will never do to procrastinate and put off what you have to do today till tomorrow.

Most importantly, remember that if you ever fall down again, get back up and try again. You need to treat failure as a feedback for success. So start your day tomorrow by achieving something great!

As we all know sometimes in life things can get rough, either from personal experience or from the experience of others. In those moments many things tend to go wrong simultaneously. When you discover the fact that problems are often social in that they seldom travel alone, it can actually feel as if everybody has it in for you.

Be careful not to mention this to the wrong people though, or they might think that you’re some conspiracy theory nutcase and start treating you as such. Even though that might not directly create additional problems for you. As a matter of fact, creating some distance between you and less supportive people from your environment could actually do you a lot of good. However when you’re taking hits left and right you might be a bit more susceptible to criticism than you would normally be. And that of course could hurt your already battered spirit.

Now let’s suppose that you’re one of those people who have read some books on personal development. Perhaps you’ve listened to audio programs in your car or in a quiet place at home. If so, you are likely to have learned that you don’t have to be controlled by your emotions. Instead you have a great deal of influence over your emotions. Some state that this influence is absolute. The underlying idea is simple:

“You can not control everything that happens to you, but you have full control over how you feel about what happens to you.”

Many people have learned that this belief can have a dramatically positive effect on their life and the lives of people around them. A very wise and successful man once said that: “Mastery of emotional response is the key to winning.” It’s pretty much a universal law and it’s most certainly true in many, if not all, situations.

Many successful people have achieved their success because they were simply willing to do those things that other, less successful people are not willing to do. This poses an interesting question to all those people that want to be wealthy and successful: “Are you willing to do the things 95 percent of the people are not willing to do, in order to have the things 95 percent of the people will never have?” Sounds easy enough until you start to get a grasp of the price you may have to pay.

A high degree of control over your own emotions are paramount if you dream of ever achieving anything truly worthwhile.

Now let’s suppose that you know all this. You believe all this. But sometimes, when nothing seems to be going your way, you can’t help but feel down. Somehow you just can’t help being negative. Why is it that even if you know, you still don’t act like it. You know full well that negativity will bring you no good whatsoever, but you still buy into it. The path of least resistance is too tempting for you to withstand. Is it that you’re weak? Can you only be positive, committed and strong willed in the face of good conditions? Does your strength of character leave you when you encounter anything a little bigger that minor obstacles? For some people this would seem to be the case. But certainly you’re not one of them. You’re not a loser. You’re a winner. Right? Then why don’t you feel like one?

To give you a small hint: maybe it’s just because you’re only human. We all make mistakes from time to time. If you don’t it just means you’re not taking enough chances. Temporarily buying into the wrong mindset is nothing more than a mistake. It doesn’t have to be a big mistake either as long as you don’t hang around there for too long. Just because you don’t let adversity stop you doesn’t mean that it can’t knock you down from time to time. Whenever that happens it won’t feel good because just like a punch-drunk fighter it won’t feel all that dandy when he’s given eight seconds. What ultimately sets you apart from the rest though is not that you don’t experience the feelings that come with adversity and setbacks, but that you won’t allow them to knock you out.

Whether you feel good or bad, after you lick your wounds you’re back in the game.

So when you find yourself in the dumps and on top of that you realize that your mindset is not where it is supposed to be, don’t beat yourself up. Probably the last thing you need at that moment is you putting yourself down even more. Don’t worry too much about it either. The fact that you realize it is actually a good thing. Most people never stop to thing why they behave the way that they do and whether or not their mindset is appropriate. So just give yourself a break, but make it a short one. Then get back on track and make sure that Lionel Richie’s “When the going gets tough, the tough get going” applies to you.
